Advocacy
How We Engage
The Utah Acupuncture Association engages in advocacy through the following activities:
Monitoring legislation and regulatory activity affecting acupuncture practice and education
Participating in rulemaking and regulatory processes when appropriate
Providing professional input and testimony to policymakers upon request
Educating lawmakers and staff about acupuncture training, safety, and scope
Communicating policy developments and outcomes to members
Regulatory Engagement
Much of the Association’s work occurs through regulatory engagement rather than legislation. We participate in public comment, stakeholder discussions, and rulemaking processes to support clear, consistent, and enforceable standards that protect the public and support professional practice.
Collaboration/Stakeholder Input
The Association engages constructively with educators, clinics, allied healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to support informed decision-making and collaborative solutions. Differences in licensure and regulatory pathways are recognized and respected as part of this process.
Why Advocacy Matters
Clear, informed engagement between professionals and policymakers helps ensure that acupuncture regulation supports public safety, access to care, and a competent, sustainable professional workforce.
